• Survivorship Care

When your doctors say you’re cancer free or in remission, we celebrate with you. But we also know your journey isn’t over. That’s why we offer a range of programs and support services to help you manage the unique needs and challenges you face after cancer treatment.

We want all survivors to thrive and live a healthy, cancer-free life. And we’re here to partner with you in that journey.

    After Cancer

The National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS), a cancer advocacy group founded in 1986, defines cancer survivorship as “the experience of living with, through and beyond a diagnosis of cancer.”

After treatment, you may experience few long-term effects or you may have lasting symptoms that severely affect your quality of life.

Some common issues cancer survivors face include:

    • Altered body image.
    • Career concerns.
    • Cosmetic changes.
    • Emotional distress.
    • Fear of recurrence.
    • Financial difficulties.
    • Grief.
    • Impaired organ function.
    • Infertility.
    • Limited mobility.
    • Sexual dysfunction.
    • Social isolation.

    Our Cancer Survivorship Program

Living a healthier lifestyle reduces your risk of cancer returning. At AMMC, we give you the tools you need to improve your health and quality of life after cancer.

At the end of your cancer treatment, a nurse practitioner leads you through a formal survivorship visit with our oncology care team. Together, you develop a custom survivorship plan. During your routine follow-up visits, your health care team consults your survivorship care plan to ensure you’re on track with your goals.

As part of your survivorship care plan, we offer the following support services:

As a survivor, it’s important to understand you’re in transition from treatment to a new normal. We’re here to help you learn how to self-manage late and long-term treatment effects, and make lifestyle changes to reduce your risk of recurrence or second cancers.
