    Our Programs

    Maryland Market Money

Maryland Market Money is a statewide currency distributed to participants in federal nutrition benefits programs. The currency comes in the form of dollar-value tokens distributed each week at participating markets. These tokens can be spent on any SNAP-eligible foods at any participating market in Maryland, helping to increase customers’ food budgets for purchasing fresh, healthy, local foods at farmers markets while also directly supporting local growers and producers.

    Market to Mealtime

Market to Mealtime is a UMD Food Supplement Nutrition Education program working with farmers markets throughout the state to encourage shoppers to add nutrient-rich fruits and vegetables they might not have eaten before to their diets.

AAMC Fruits and Vegetable Prescription Program

A program targeted to patients in need to encourage and subsidize the purchase of fresh fruits and vegetables from local farmers market. Participants should check in with Maryland Farmers Market Association to redeem their fruits and vegetable prescription at the AAMC Farmers Market or the Anne Arundel County Farmers Market.

We’re passionate about doing our part to help the environment. Buying food from local farmers not only supports the local agricultural community and economy, but it also decreases "food miles."

On average, food travels 1,500 miles from farm to plate. But when you buy locally, your food travels an average of 60 miles. This decrease in distance lowers fuel consumption, greenhouse gases, air pollution and your risk of related diseases, including asthma, lung disease, lung cancer and heart disease.

It also cuts down on the use of plastics in packaging and allows farmers to pick their food when it's ripe, maximizing the nutrient content and giving you fresher food that tastes better.

Our farmers market sells reusable AAMC tote bags, so you can do your part to care for the environment.
