Support when you need it
No matter where you are on your spiritual journey, members of our Spiritual Care team are available to talk with you 24/7. Our team includes ordained clergy from many denominations who can talk with you during times of stress or uncertainty. Your own clergyperson, faith community leader or spiritual counselor is always welcome to visit you as well.
Our spiritual caregivers are trained in religious and cultural diversity and sensitivity. They can be part of your healing process by:
- Listening to you with sensitivity and respect.
- Journeying with you and your loved ones through grief and loss.
- Praying with you.
- Offering comfort in times of distress.
- Talking with you, your family and your care team about any spiritual care goals you may have.
Religious resources and rituals
In addition to on-site spiritual caregivers, we offer a variety of religious resources for you and your loved ones:
- Bibles and other religious texts.
- TV CARE (channel 86) on all patient room televisions, featuring music and visuals to promote relaxation, inspiration, meditation and prayer.
- 24/7 quiet places, including a Meditation Center on the main floor of the Hospital Pavilion North and a Healing Garden just outside of that space.
- Baptisms, blessings, Holy Communion and Anointing of the Sick, facilitated by our in-house staff of Protestant chaplains and St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church.
- Services and rituals for Jewish, Muslim and other faith traditions.
Request a visit
Our chaplains are here to listen and support you and your loved ones, and make regular rounds in the hospital. To speak with someone on our Spiritual Care team or request a spiritual caregiver of a specific faith tradition, ask your nurse to page a chaplain, or call 443-481-5120. Chaplains are at the hospital:
- Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 7:30 pm
- Saturdays from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm
- Sundays from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm
At other times, ask your nurse to contact the on-call chaplain. Our Spiritual Care department is located in the Hospital Pavilion North, first floor, adjacent to the Meditation Center and Healing Garden.
