Raymond S. Hoffman, MD, is a graduate of Creighton University Medical School in Omaha, Neb., and completed his residency in general psychiatry at the University of Maryland Department of Psychiatry and a fellowship in eating disorders at the Center for Eating Disorders (now part of Sheppard Pratt Hospital). He completed his psychoanalytic training at the Psychoanalytic Institute of the Contemporary Freudian Society; he is also currently a training and supervising analyst as well as chair of the Committee on Progressions at the institute. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and a Fellow of the International Psychoanalytic Association.

Dr. Hoffman was formerly the chief medical officer at Mosaic Community Services in Baltimore County, Md. and the medical director of the Walter P. Carter Clinics in the Division of Community Psychiatry at the University of Maryland Medical Systems. He also served as a consulting psychiatrist at Chase Brexton Health Services in Baltimore and at the Whitman-Walker Clinic in Washington, DC.
